David Parq is a HipHop artist and producer from Düsseldorf and also the co-founder of the Soulside Collective.
His musical influences primarily include (Alternative) HipHop, Reggae, RnB, and Neo Soul. Among his greatest inspirations are artists like Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Bob Marley, and producers such as Salaam Remi, Alchemist, Sounwave, Dilla, and IAMNOBODI.
What distinguishes him as an artist, besides his versatility and authenticity, is the wide range of themes and emotions he addresses in his songs. From classic ambitious street bangers to songs about love, drugs, friendship, money, and loss, he covers everything that urban life entails. His album "incognito" describes the story of an anonymous hero who, in an attempt to finally get his life together, nearly loses everything and himself before discovering his true identity.
He usually writes, produces, and mixes his songs in the Soulside Studios on the historic Kiefernstrasse in Düsseldorf. Here, he runs a studio complex with four recording and production rooms together with his partners.
In his role as an artist and producer, he also supports public projects in Düsseldorf for younger artists from marginalized neighborhoods by assisting them in their creative process and helping them find their path as artists.
He also uses his studio, among other things, to provide a new generation of artists from the greater Düsseldorf area with access to a professional working environment at affordable prices, where they can flourish as artists, produce music, and build up confidence.
The "Soulside Live Session," formerly known as "5P Live Session," is one of the few authentic music-culture events in NRW that focuses on showcasing the best newcomer artists and DJs. As the co-founder of the Soulside Collective and this event series, as well as the associated legendary 'Aftershow Party,' David Parq has already made a significant contribution to connecting a new generation of artists from NRW into a real scene.
